Scheduling any session can be difficult trying to find the right day and time for everyone included. It can seem especially difficult when you're not even sure when one of your session participants will be available - your newborn! And then how do you know just when you're supposed to have the session once they have arrive? Here's a basic plan to help you figure it out.
WHEN: Within the first 2 weeks is ideal.
This is when your newborn is the tiniest he/she will ever be, and also the sleepiest. If you're hoping to capture your little one in sleep mode, you have the best chance within two weeks of birth.
BUT those first two weeks can also be brutal on new parents, and you just might not get your session done in that time. You know what? That's ok! Don't beat yourself up about it or feel like you've missed the chance. There is never a wrong time to photograph your baby. And I personally love when I catch those newborn eyes open and looking into my lens. So whenever you get your newborn session done, it's the perfect time. At no time will you regret having them done, but you will regret never having them done.
HOW: Pencil it in on the Calendar
We'll start with getting the due date penciled in as the session date, and I will leave room for you a week or two past that date. Once your baby is here, you can reach out to me to set the actual date. I do newborn sessions Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays between 9a and 1 p.
If something happens, or it's all just too difficult to make it on that date, we can always change it to later. Don't pass this up just because you might miss the 2 week window. We'll get precious images of your special one, however old he/she is, no matter what.
