Growing up, studio portraits were pretty much all there was for family and child photos. You booked a time, headed to the department store, were set in front of a few (now looking back, horrid) backdrops, were sometimes surrounded by awful props (cue fake flowers), guided into some cheesy poses, looked into the camera and smiled. And we loved them! The problem with the old studio portraits, though, is that they were overposed, showed no connection, and their look would eventually be outdated.
This is not what I want for you! I believe Your images should be beautiful and timeless, and your session should be fun.
For my studio photography, I only use backdrops that are neutral and classic, and any props I use are mainly for seating. (Ok, maybe the babies sometimes have a few more props like blankets and baskets...but that's just so stinkin cute.) For the most part, the background should be simple so that your child and your family stand out. It's the special details and personality of each individual we want to remember, not all of the things around them. I also include a variety of images to make sure we have classic posed (not cheesy) captures, as well as treasured candid moments. And to make sure you're dressed for a timeless photo, I help guide you to figure out what your child and your family should wear.
Oh, and did I mention you can choose the music to set the mood for your session? Yep. There's music, too.
The images you receive from my studio can be displayed in your home and enjoyed for years to come. I can't promise your frames will be timeless, but your photos will!
