Does the thought of a photo shoot for your child stress you out? Figuring out a date, finding the outfit, ironing or steaming said outfit, making sure hair and face and hands and feet are clean, getting to the shoot on time, and worrying about how your child is going to act? Totally. Get. It.
But if you have the right photographer, prepping for the session shouldn't be too difficult and worrying about how your child will act shouldn't be an issue. De-wrinkling the outfit, cleaning the kid, and getting here on time - well, those will have to be on you, mama.
So, why go through the stress?
Here are 4 reasons why you need to have a photo shoot for your child.
1 - Capture the milestones and changes.
Every year they change and grow. They will never be exactly the same as they are in that moment. Documenting those different stages is so important.
2 - Portraits can boost your child's self esteem.
Every child is unique and should be celebrated. When you take the time to schedule a photo shoot for your child and they see their portrait on the wall or an album of their images, it reminds them they are valued, loved, and special. As they form their own image of themselves, this does so much for their development and feelings of self worth.
3 - Have something to pass down.
I love going through photos of my mother when she was younger, my grandmother, my aunt, and even myself. There's nothing like holding them in your hands. No one is ever going to sit around and search through images on your cloud. And what happens when we're gone? We all need portraits of those who are important to us that we can display and pass down through the generations.
4 - They are your works of art.
Your children are your prized possessions. Your sweetest blessings from God. Even if on some days it doesn't seem so! They are masterpieces and deserve to be a work of art on your wall. If nothing else, do it for you. You keep your children alive. You deserve a beautiful documentation of that fact!
I know you have thousands of photos of your child on your phone. Me, too. I love being able to quickly snap memories of them on the daily. But it will always be important to me to celebrate my children and grandchildren with special, customized portrait sessions. Those portraits are my legacy.
